Banking: Most banks are located on Trafalgar Street. Each also has an automated teller outside of its premises.

Churches: There are many different faith represented in Nelson. The Saturday Nelson Mail newspaper provides up-to-date information and timetables of services.

Conference Facilities: There are several locations handy to South Street. Should the need arise we can secure space for your meeting needs.

Electric Power: New Zealand operates on 220/30 Watts, 50 cycle, D.C. current. Most European, Asian, Japanese, Chinese, and Australian appliances will work provided they are fitted with the correct plug or adaptor. If you have a European plug or other, adaptors are provided. *Special Note: American appliances are not to be used in N.Z.

Internet: We have a wireless connection and if you wish to use your device, we will assign you a network password for use during your stay.

Lost and Found: Should you forget some of your belongings we will forward these to you via mail.

Newspapers: The Nelson Mail is the local newspaper and an afternoon edition is available from dairies, petrol stations and supermarkets. If you have a special request please ask and we will endeavor to locate a source for you.

Security: Sojourn Cottage is equipped with the most modern of home security systems. This includes, smoke, fire, and intruder alarms. You will be issued with a security code on your arrival.

Smoking: Sojourn Cottage has a no smoking policy. 

Storage: Should you be traveling around the South Island and returning to Nelson to stay with us, we would be happy to store any items until your return.

Supermarket: New World supermarket is not far away, on the corner of Vanguard and Gloucester Streets.  It is open 7 days from 7am till 10.30pm. From South Street turn left onto Nile Street West then right onto Rutherford Street.  Walk down to the intersection of Hardy Street, cross towards the Bowater Hyundai dealership building on the corner of Hardy and Rutherford.  Walk down Hardy Street, around the dealership building, into Kerr Street. You will see the supermarket as you walk down Kerr Street. It will be about a 5-10 minute walk from the cottage. 

There is also a Farmers Market held every Wednesday in Nelson from 11am until 4pm.  You will find it in Morrison Square, off Hardy Street.

Taxi Service: Nelson City Taxis is based on a neighbouring street ph 03 548 8225. There is another company, Sun City Taxis ph 03 5482666 you can also call Dial a Sober Driver 03 5480333

Telephone: Most travelers in today’s world have their own communications, be it cell phone or lap top computer. If you are one of the minority that do not have such devices, we will gladly give you a "Loaner Phone," which operates on a "Pre-Paid" system. These phones operate on a credit system - more credit can be purchased in most dairies and petrol stations if you have the need to top up. When you receive the phone, it will have a certain amount of credit on it. When you return it, you will only pay the amount which has been used.

Television: The system we are linked to is "FreeView." This is all operated by remote controls.
